Game developers
have real power to tackle
the climate crisis.

The climate crisis has already started to affect
our ability to continue making and playing
the games we love.

The International Game Developers Association Climate Special Interest Group (IGDA CLIMATE SIG) serves to unlock grassroots climate action, enable climate councils on every major game company, and amplify the UN Environment’s message about youth advocacy, the power of video games, the climate crisis, and what games can do.

Changing the world is possible - and the work has already begun.

Our workstreams in 2021 are focused on setting a strong foundation - gathering information and building resources that can help game developers tackle the climate crisis.

We have dedicated working groups for game design, carbon footprint reduction, and the development of climate councils that can create and measure impact.

Ready to take the next step?

This is a global movement that does not happen overnight. Whether you only have bandwidth to stay informed or you’re ready to join us in building resources that can inspire and scale climate action, your voice matters.

“I didn't know what was being done in this field, how to contribute to it myself, or who the key people making progress are. Quite simply, this group has all the resources to thoroughly answer all of those questions and more, and is full of the people here ready to do the work with you. People who want to make a difference start and stay here.”
